For photographers

Sun tracker for photographers.

Lumavyr is a sun tracker for photographers who need more than a sunrise time. Plan when the Sun reaches the angle, elevation and visible horizon position your composition requires.

Plan the quality and direction of natural light

Golden hour and blue hour are useful starting points, but a photograph depends on direction as much as time. Lumavyr calculates Sun azimuth and elevation on device, then helps you look for front light, 45-degree light, side light, rim light or backlight relative to the subject and camera position. The result is a practical photography light planner that remains useful when reception is poor or absent.

Know when direct light actually reaches the scene

Published sunrise assumes a flat horizon. Mountains, buildings and terrain can delay direct sunlight at the exact place where you plan to shoot. Horizon Scan records an obstruction profile and compares it with the solar path, separating theoretical sunrise from the moment the Sun clears the real horizon. Blocked segments use a dashed treatment; visible direct-light segments remain explicitly labelled.

Find future Sun alignments

Compose a landmark, tower or landscape first, place the Sun where you want it, and search future dates for a geometric match. Save the place and composition so a promising shot becomes a repeatable opportunity. Lumavyr can surface the next matching date locally without uploading search coordinates, sensor data or a library of private photography spots.

Private and offline by design

The native app performs its core astronomy offline and does not require an account for core planning. Saved spots remain a personal light-location notebook. The presentation website demonstrates the same solar geometry in the browser without turning Lumavyr into a cloud dashboard or an AI-generated planning service.
